Take care of your brothers and sisters 💙💙💙

As I think about tomorrow’s show highlighting Blue Help, I was thinking about how officers and their families are treated when an officer takes his or her life and wanted to put those thoughts into words. This can apply to any first responder.

IN THE LINE OF DUTY
By: Mark White

In the line of duty, I saw death and tragedy early on.

In the line of duty, the images remained.

In the line of duty, post traumatic stress, depression, & anxiety all took their toll.

In the line of duty, I thought often about what I had seen, the images were vivid.

In the line of duty, I sought help, but knew I must be careful, for if the wrong person knew, my career would be over.

In the line of duty, after searching for help, I ultimately believed there was none for me.

In the line of duty, I decided that it was time to end the pain.

In the line of duty, I took my life.

After all I experienced in the line of duty, and the affect it had on me, my death was not considered an “in the line of duty” death.

No special recognitions. No honors. My family grieves & suffers in silence.
