Make no mistake about it, we’re experiencing a real crisis in this country: increasing violence directed at police officers.
For the last century, the Fraternal Order of Police has been the voice for the men and women of law enforcement in the United States. When the media looks for insight into the law enforcement profession, they turn to the FOP. But when the media is not talking about important issues to the men and women of law enforcement, the FOP drives the conversation.
A few years back, it was rare to see national media coverage of an officer who was shot and survived. But things have changed, and the FOP will not stand by and allow the media to turn the other way. We are sounding the alarm for all Americans to hear, loud and clear.
It is important that we, all 364,000 members of the FOP, continue to call on every American in every community across the country to join us in taking a stand—to say, ‘enough is enough!’ Truthfully, this violence is beyond unacceptable; it’s a stain on our society, and it must end. It is incumbent upon our elected officials and community leaders to stand up, support our heroes, and speak out against the violence against law enforcement officers.
