The National Fraternal Order of Police spent all of last year working cooperatively with key Members of Congress to develop meaningful criminal justice and police reform. Our efforts were focused on the need for absolute protection of officers’ due process rights and strictly adherence to the “objectively reasonable” standard for use of force.

These efforts could not overcome the political headwinds in Congress and now, potential Executive action is being contemplated amidst the background of a national spike in violent crime and violence targeting law enforcement officers.
