On May 17, Shalimar was shot in the head while attending a vigil in New York City for 31-year-old Miles Bobbsemple.

Miles was reportedly killed less than 24 hours earlier after he accidentally stepped on the foot of a gang member.

“This is a mother without kids,” the victim’s aunt, Sophia Husbands, said. “Her kids, they didn’t deserve this… All of this gun violence for no reason. Everything they did to her is senseless.”
